While summer weather has been a bit late in coming to Russell, the sun is now shining and warm temperatures entice visitors to our beaches and gallery.
Just Imagine continues to be filled with ever changing art and jewellery and our season is loaded with events!

25 January – The opening date of painter and sculptor Nora Shayeb’s exhibition, “Reminiscence of My Journey”. Born in Cario and raised in Germany, Nora travelled for three years meeting people and gathering impressions without ever using a camera! Her oils on canvas vividly capture the world she experienced.
The exhibition will run through 15 February.

27-29 January – (Auckland Anniversary Weekend) finds Kororareka returning to its days of infamy of the 1830-47 when the Hell Hole of the Pacific once again reigns supreme!

17-18 February – Midsummer Music Magic with the renowned Jade Quartet, Miranda Adams and Jonathan Besser!! Join us for two evenings of incomparable music. Our Midsummer Magic Package includes Friday evening nibbles and wine and Saturday evening desserts and wine. Bookings are essential and we will be seating only 50 at each concert.

25 February – The Tale of Two Woods an exhibition of mono-prints and paintings by Marie Powell and Bill Snider opens. The competition to guess the meaning behind the title will occur that evening between 6 -8pm. The exhibition will run through the 10 March.

HELL- HOLE ll:
21-29 January: Kororareka is again alive as 1830 -1845 is recreated with fun and frivolity. Plan your time in Russell to meet Hobson as he lands on our beach, makes his way to Christ Church to make his infamous proclamation, watch our “mayor” incur the wrath of his wife over his visit to the site of our first brothel, and join in the Temperance movement with our vigilant marchers!!
