About Us

It was the first day of Autumn 2002. My husband Terry and I were standing in front of the old garage we had just bought in York Street. The building, no longer operating as a garage, was in desperate need of renovation.

But soon Terry assembled a masterful team and began to transform the place into a gleaming building of light and air.

The original plan was to lease the building, but in October 2002 when I came to visit and imagined what could be created here, I knew that we could do something amazing in that space.

Once the bones of the building had been decided, we went about designing the interior as an exercise in theatre. Much of our lives in Colorado had been working and directing community theatre, so we had a pretty good idea what was needed to execute a production: beyond the script we had to select lighting, sound, set design, props, and cast. This translated into the open, bright areas of the gallery, custom plinths and display areas, amazing art and jewellery as well as display designs and our staff.

And so the stage was set.
